So, we opened up the wall to expose the brick. We found this... looks like someone replaced the old window and forgot to put in proper supports! We left the wall open and it will be finished "later*."
Also, this floor had some black paint that we couldn't sand all the way through. The resulting spots are kinda cool and odd -- but if you were 116 years old, you'd have scars too.
